Elegant, functional bridges that restore your bite and your brilliance—without compromising beauty.
Ceramic Dental Bridges work much like their porcelain counterparts, which is to say they serve as bridges to replace missing teeth with artificial ones. They also have similarities in durability, and resemble natural teeth in look and feel, stain resistance, and offer lightweight comfortability. Operationally, they are identical to porcelain: they attach to the teeth on either side of the gap by way of crowns. Ceramic bridges are color matched to your natural teeth and can last between 10 and 20 years. They are resistant to stains and are relatively comfortable with a high degree of shock absorption.
Procedurally, and like porcelain bridges and crowns, the first step involves the shaping of the teeth on either side of the gap. Then, an impression is made of the teeth, either physically or digitally, and a temporary stop gap is left in place. Once the permanent structure is ready, the new piece installed and checked, adjusted if necessary, and temporarily cemented to allow for an adjustment phase. As soon as it is evident that there are no complications, and the new tooth structure feels natural and pain and discomfort-free, the bridge is permanently cemented, and the confident smiling can begin.
It is important to note that proper dental maintenance is a necessity, post-ceramic bridge installation. Twice-daily brushing with soft brushes and a fluoride toothpaste (perhaps with an interdental brush) along with flossing, will help keep your bridge in good working order. The same goes for regular office checkups and visits. As with other dental implants, it is recommended that one avoid excessively hard foods such as nuts and popcorn kernels, sticky candy, and ice. If you have any questions about whether ceramic dental bridges are right for you, please call our office and schedule a consultation. We would be happy to arrange a time to alleviate any and all concerns.
