Reclaim confidence with lifelike implants that look, feel and function like your natural teeth.
Yet another way we can help you achieve the smile of your dreams is through the use of dental implants. They do not just replace missing teeth, but with dental implants we can help you restore your proper chewing function, and prevent the loss of bone mass in your jaw. The way it works is by surgically inserting titanium screws into the jawbone, which serve as replacement tooth roots, and lay the foundation for dentures, bridges and crowns. Dental implants are built to last, durable, and look and feel as natural as your original teeth.
There are three main components to the dental implant system. One is the implant body, which is the screw-like part that acts as the anchor. The second is the abutment piece. Finally, the third and most visible piece is the crown, which fits on the abutment.
The first step to any dental installation is the initial consultation and dental examination. Once we have determined this to be the proper procedure, we make x-rays and impressions and move on to the surgery, which is performed under local or general anesthesia.
A small incision in the gums is made, then a hole in the jawbone is drilled to accommodate the implant body. Once secure, the incision is stitched, and the area is given between 3 and 6 months to heal and for the implant to integrate with the bone. In certain cases where there is a lack of mass, bone grafting may be necessary. There may be some swelling, bruising or discomfort experienced at this time. Once fully recovered, the abutment is placed on the implant, and the custom-made crown is fitted on top. Aftercare steps include follow up visits, regular brushing, flossing and regular checkups. Smoking is highly discouraged, but smiling confidently definitely is.
